Expect standard KYC requirements as a foreign applicant — valid identification (typically a passport for foreign investors), proof of South African residential address, and any additional compliance documentation the broker requires for cross-border clients. These requirements vary by broker, so confirm directly before assuming what’s needed.

One consideration specific to South African investors is exchange control: South Africa has historically had foreign investment allowance rules that can apply to South African residents sending money abroad for offshore investments. Whether and how these rules would apply to a Dangote IPO subscription depends on South African regulations at the time and the specific mechanism used to invest — this is worth confirming with a South African financial adviser or your bank ahead of any subscription, since we can’t respond to your specific circumstances here and South African exchange control rules do change.
