The BRVM retreated for a second consecutive week as investors locked in gains following an extended rally, with Ecobank Transnational Inc. leading declines while trading activity shifted toward large-cap stocks. The BRVM Composite Index fell 0.34% to 482.65 points, while the BRVM 30 slipped 0.28% to 230.08. The BRVM Prestige Index outperformed, rising 0.26% to 177.56, highlighting continued demand for higher-quality names.

Trading volume dropped 39.76% to 10.58 million shares from the previous week, although the value of transactions increased 15.18% to XOF 8.85 billion as investors concentrated activity in large-cap companies. SICOR Côte d'Ivoire posted the week's strongest advance, climbing 20.75%, followed by ORAGROUP Togo, which gained 16.30% on renewed interest in regional banking stocks. SAFCA Côte d'Ivoire rose 8.00% as investors positioned ahead of the listing of shares issued through its capital increase scheduled for Aug. 11. On the downside, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated fell 9.59%, followed by SICABLE Côte d'Ivoire, down 7.77%, and SETAO Côte d'Ivoire, which declined 7.75%, reflecting broader profit-taking after recent gains.

The fixed-income market also softened, with bond market capitalization declining 0.12% to XOF 12.99 trillion. Trading totaled 195,258 bonds valued at XOF 1.77 billion, led by the Republic of Senegal's 6.40% 2025-2028 bond issue, which recorded limited turnover during the week.
