Three Ghanaian startups have secured a combined $500,000 in funding from the Africa Ecosystem Catalysts Facility, an investment initiative designed to back early-stage companies that traditional venture capital investors often overlook.

Managed by Village Capital with support from the Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank (FMO) and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), the $4 million pilot facility provides early-stage financing to startups in Ghana, Nigeria and Tanzania focused on climate resilience and economic mobility. The program works with local entrepreneur support organizations to identify promising founders and guide investment decisions.

The latest investments were made in Built Financial Technologies, which helps small and medium-sized businesses digitize operations, GrowForMe, an agritech platform connecting farmers with financing and agricultural services, and SAYeTECH, a manufacturer of smart agricultural machinery. The funding increases the facility's total investment in Ghana to $850,000 following earlier investments in Rivia and VDL Fulfillment in May.

Village Capital said the facility targets businesses addressing structural gaps in local economies by improving access to finance, strengthening agricultural value chains and expanding locally manufactured technology. In Ghana, the investment pipeline was developed in partnership with entrepreneur support organizations Reach for Change and Innovation Spark, which helped identify companies with strong growth potential and local market knowledge.
