Namibia will introduce visas on arrival for international investors and tourists starting April 1, as part of efforts to attract foreign capital and boost key sectors, the Namibia Investment Promotion Development Board (NIPDB) announced Monday.

The policy aims to cut bureaucratic delays and position Namibia as a regional business and tourism hub, NIPDB CEO Nangula Uaandja said in Windhoek. The initiative aligns with Namibia’s economic diversification goals, particularly in renewable energy, oil and gas, and tourism.

Namibia, rich in minerals and emerging energy projects, is developing its green hydrogen sector, leveraging renewable electricity to produce clean fuel, while also expanding its oil and gas resources. The visa reform follows similar investment-friendly moves by South Africa, which last year updated work permit rules and eased entry requirements for visitors from India and China.
