Senegal’s Sonatel Just Had Its Best Year Ever

Sonatel published its 2025 results and the numbers are hard to ignore.
The group (BRVM: SNTS) posted revenue of 1,923 billion FCFA, up 8.3%, with a net profit of 413.6 billion FCFA and a net margin of 21.5%.
For a company operating across five countries simultaneously, that is a world-class performance by any standard.
But what most investors are really asking is: what do I actually get paid?
The answer is 1,933 FCFA gross per share — a net yield of 6.22% at the current share price, with payment confirmed for 25 May 2026. To put that in context, most African government bonds are not offering that kind of real return right now.
What the headline numbers don’t tell you is where the real growth is coming from, how sustainable it is, and what the risks actually look like beneath the surface.
Mobile data now accounts for nearly 39% of all group revenue. Orange Money processed 3.79 billion transactions in a single year. Fibre customers grew 35% in twelve months. And Sonatel is already investing in the infrastructure that will define 2027 and beyond.
There is also a set of headwinds — new taxes, currency pressures, regulatory moves in two markets — that deserve a closer look before you make any decisions.
Our report breaks down every number, every risk, and gives you a clear-eyed verdict on whether Sonatel belongs in your portfolio.
