Social Bond Daba Investors Participated in Reaches Global Markets

A social bond issued by CRRH-UEMOA and participated in by Daba has reached a major milestone: international listing on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange, while continuing to trade on the BRVM.
The bond, a 6 percent fixed-rate CFA-denominated issuance maturing in 2040, finances affordable housing projects across the WAEMU region. Its admission to Luxembourg marks a first for the regional market: the first dual listing between the BRVM and the Luxembourg Stock Exchange for a WAEMU social bond.
This is more than a symbolic achievement. It reflects a growing convergence between African capital markets and international financial centers, and it highlights how locally issued instruments can meet global standards of transparency, governance, and impact.
Why this listing matters
The Luxembourg Stock Exchange is one of the world’s leading venues for sustainable and impact finance. For a WAEMU-issued social bond to be listed there sends a clear signal to global investors: African local-currency instruments can be credible, investable, and scalable.
For CRRH-UEMOA, the regional mortgage refinancing institution, the transaction strengthens access to long-term funding to support housing finance. For the broader market, it enhances visibility and credibility for issuers across the WAEMU zone.
Importantly, the bond remains listed and traded on the BRVM. This dual structure preserves access for regional investors while opening the door to international capital—without disconnecting the instrument from its local economic purpose.
Solving housing affordability through capital markets
Housing affordability remains one of the most pressing structural challenges across West Africa. Access to long-term financing is essential to expand mortgage markets, support developers, and improve living conditions for households.
This bond channels capital directly toward that objective. Proceeds are used to refinance housing loans and strengthen the availability of affordable housing across member countries. It is a clear example of how capital markets can be mobilized to address real economic and social needs.
The strong subscription of the bond at issuance reflects investor confidence not only in the issuer, but also in the quality and relevance of the projects financed.
What this means for Daba users
Daba’s participation in this transaction reflects its core mission: giving individuals access to high-quality investment opportunities that were historically limited to institutions.
This bond combines several characteristics that define the type of opportunities Daba focuses on:
- Local-currency exposure, aligned with regional economies
- Stable, long-term yield
- Clear social impact, linked to housing affordability
- International recognition and market validation
The international listing confirms that African capital market products can meet global standards without sacrificing local relevance. It also shows that impact-driven investments from Africa are increasingly visible and investable on the world stage.
Democratizing access to quality African investments
For decades, many African financial instruments remained opaque or inaccessible to individual investors. That is changing.
Transactions like this demonstrate that African markets are maturing, governance is strengthening, and investor trust is growing—both locally and internationally. Daba’s role is to ensure that this evolution benefits a broader audience, not just large institutions.
By opening access to bonds and other instruments that finance real economic development, Daba enables investors to align returns with impact.
