Pan-African tax technology firm DigiTax has secured technical clearance from Nigeria’s Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to operate as an Access Point Provider and System Integrator in the country’s new electronic invoicing regime. The company now awaits final regulatory sign-off before fully participating in Nigeria’s digital tax system for large businesses.
DigiTax connects enterprise invoicing systems with tax authority platforms, enabling real-time invoice transmission. The firm is already integrated with e-invoicing systems in Kenya and Zambia. Nigeria becomes its third market and second-largest by taxpayer base.
The FIRS e-invoicing system, which goes live on August 1, 2025, mandates real-time invoice submission for all companies with annual revenues of ₦5 billion ($3.3 million) or more. DigiTax says it supports over 800 clients, including large firms in retail, pharma, and manufacturing, with tools for ERP and API integrations, invoice validation, and compliance workflows.

Key Takeaways
DigiTax’s expansion into Nigeria reinforces a broader shift in African tax regimes toward real-time compliance and electronic fiscal control. As one of the few players operating in multiple jurisdictions, DigiTax is building cross-border infrastructure for large businesses navigating increasingly digital tax systems. With Kenya and Nigeria representing Africa’s two largest taxpayer bases—projected 2025 revenues of $19.9 billion and $16.8 billion, respectively—DigiTax’s strategy targets markets with high compliance thresholds and regional corporate footprints. Its platform supports integrations with common tools like QuickBooks and Odoo, lowering friction for businesses adapting to e-invoicing mandates. In addition to subscription and transaction revenues, DigiTax also earns from custom ERP integrations, which are often critical in large enterprises. The company’s approach—prioritizing readiness of tax authorities and existing client overlap—could make it a first-mover in emerging regulatory environments across Africa.
