  • Endeavor Kenya announces inaugural cohort of high-growth startups for ScaleUp program
  • Selected startups include Nakama-Tech, ZenDawa, and African Management Initiative (AMI)
  • Cohort features diverse industries such as technology, logistics, and finance

Endeavor Kenya has revealed the inaugural cohort of nine startups for its ScaleUp program. It is designed to provide high-growth startup ventures the necessary network and resources to navigate their journey to scale. The program's first edition will span over the next 6-12 months.

The selected startups encompass a diverse range of industries and include Nakama-Tech, which offers innovative business solutions to enhance customer satisfaction, retention, and sales; ZenDawa, providing a B2B SaaS solution tailored for the pharmacy industry; African Management Initiative (AMI), empowering African businesses with practical tools and training; Senga, offering a logistics and supply chain solution.

The cohort comprises Dial Afrika, a B2B SaaS omnichannel customer support tool; Satao, a developer of innovative solutions for commercial bakeries; BuuPass, a digital transport marketplace; Pezesha, connecting SMEs with working capital through a collaborative digital platform; and Shega, empowering companies with actionable insights through curated data and intelligence.

Key Takeaways

One of the defining trends of Africa’s venture capital landscape in 2022, per a Briter Bridges report, was a notable growth in the early-stage support framework available to startups on the continent, involving angel networks, seed funds, and accelerator programs. Accelerators, incubators, and pitch competitions provide crucial access to capital and mentorship to startups, and the benefits of this in the African startup landscape—which is playing catchup to ecosystems in advanced economies—can’t be overstated, especially in times of economic uncertainty.
