Africa’s Fastest-Growing Economies in 2026

Several African economies are expected to expand faster than the regional average in 2026, supported by infrastructure investment, services, manufacturing, mining and domestic demand.

According to the International Monetary Fund’s October 2026 outlook, sub-Saharan Africa is projected to grow by 4.5% in 2026.

However, some individual economies are forecast to achieve significantly higher growth rates.

These differences reflect varying economic structures, investment activity and exposure to global trade.

Which African Economies Are Growing Fastest?

The following countries are among those projected to outperform the regional growth average in 2026.

CountryForecast GDP growth
Benin7.0%
Côte d’Ivoire6.2%
Djibouti6.0%
Democratic Republic of the Congo5.9%
Chad5.2%
Burkina Faso4.9%

Benin: 7.0% Growth

Benin is projected to grow by 7.0% in 2026.

Its economy benefits from trade, agriculture, infrastructure investment and industrial development.

As a member of the West African Economic and Monetary Union, Benin shares a currency and regional financial market with 7 other countries.

Investors can research Beninese-listed companies, including Bank of Africa Benin, through the BRVM.

Côte d’Ivoire: 6.2% Growth

Côte d’Ivoire is projected to grow by 6.2%, supported by activity across agriculture, manufacturing, construction and services.

The country is also home to the BRVM’s headquarters in Abidjan.

Listed companies include Orange Côte d’Ivoire and Société Générale Côte d’Ivoire.

These businesses provide exposure to telecommunications and financial services.

Djibouti: 6.0% Growth

Djibouti’s economy benefits from logistics, port infrastructure and transportation services.

Its geographical position near major shipping routes supports regional trade.

However, economic growth depends partly on infrastructure investment, trade activity and regional economic conditions.

DR Congo: 5.9% Growth

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is projected to expand by 5.9%.

Mining is a major contributor to the economy, particularly copper and cobalt production.

These commodities are important to global manufacturing, electricity infrastructure and battery supply chains.

In July 2026, DR Congo also announced plans to establish its first securities exchange.

A functioning domestic stock market could eventually provide additional opportunities for companies seeking capital, although the proposed exchange remains subject to implementation.

Does Faster GDP Growth Mean Better Investment Returns?

Not necessarily.

Strong economic growth does not automatically translate into higher corporate profits or stock prices.

Currency depreciation, inflation, market liquidity and political conditions can affect investor returns.

Some fast-growing economies also have limited domestic stock markets, making direct equity investment difficult.

How Can Investors Access Growth Opportunities?

Investors should identify listed companies with exposure to expanding economic activity and evaluate their profitability, valuation and financial risks.

Daba Finance provides investment access across supported African markets.

Investors can research listed businesses through Daba Capital Markets and explore additional financial analysis through Daba Pro.

The bottom line: Africa’s fastest-growing economies offer opportunities linked to infrastructure, mining, trade and consumer demand. However, economic growth is only one factor in successful investing. Company fundamentals and market accessibility remain essential.
