Dangote IPO Is Here: What Does It Mean for Investors Outside Nigeria?
5 min Read September 9, 2026 at 2:19 PM UTC

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery IPO is here, and its significance extends far beyond Nigeria.
For years, one of Africa’s most important privately owned industrial assets was inaccessible to ordinary public-market investors. The 2026 Dangote Refinery IPO changes that, creating an opportunity for eligible retail and institutional investors — including investors living outside Nigeria — to seek ownership in the business.
The offer comprises 4.1 billion ordinary shares priced at ₦525 each, equivalent to approximately $0.40 per share around the time the offer was announced. If fully subscribed, the base offer could raise approximately ₦2.15 trillion, or around $1.6 billion. Reuters reported that subscriptions are scheduled from September 14 through October 13, 2026.
Why the Dangote IPO Matters for the African Diaspora
Many Africans living abroad want exposure to the continent’s growth but historically face practical barriers: local bank accounts, brokerage onboarding, currency conversion, BVN requirements and unfamiliar market infrastructure.
The Dangote IPO comes at a time when those barriers are becoming easier to navigate.
Through Daba, eligible investors outside Nigeria can access Nigerian capital-market opportunities without needing to establish the same local financial infrastructure they might need when approaching the market independently.
In particular, investors using Daba’s international channel do not need their own Nigerian bank account, BVN or personal CSCS account to participate through the platform.
Daba and Coronation: Connecting Global Investors to Nigeria
Daba’s Nigeria-market access is supported by its strategic relationship with Coronation Securities Limited and Coronation Asset Management Limited.
Coronation’s official website describes the arrangement with Daba Markets Inc. as a partnership to expand global access to Nigeria’s capital market. Coronation Securities is registered and regulated by Nigeria’s Securities and Exchange Commission.
Investors can view Daba directly on the official Coronation Securities website.
What Are You Actually Investing In?
Dangote Petroleum Refinery is one of Africa’s largest industrial projects. The refinery was built at a cost of approximately $20 billion and has transformed Nigeria’s domestic fuel market while expanding exports of refined petroleum products.
The company also disclosed plans for a $14.3 billion expansion programme aimed at taking processing capacity to approximately 1.4 million barrels per day by 2029.
That scale is one reason searches for Dangote IPO investment, Dangote shares, and how to invest in Dangote Refinery from abroad have surged.
Is Dangote Refinery Shariah Compliant?
For Muslim investors, another important development is that the offer has been certified Shariah-compliant.
The assessment conducted by Buraq Capital found that Dangote Refinery passed the required business-activity and financial screens and concluded that investment in the ordinary shares under the offer is permissible.
Where Can International Investors Follow the IPO?
Daba has created a dedicated Dangote IPO Hub covering the share price, offer dates, verified updates and international access.
For investors outside Nigeria, the bigger story is therefore not simply that Dangote Refinery is going public. It is that one of Africa’s most important companies is becoming significantly easier for Africans and diaspora investors around the world to access.
How to Participate in the Dangote IPO Through Daba
Start by creating or updating your Daba account and completing KYC. You can then follow the IPO through the dedicated Daba Dangote Refinery IPO Hub, where Daba tracks the share price, offer status, dates and verified updates.
Once subscriptions are available through Daba for your jurisdiction, eligible users can follow the application process inside the platform.
If you would like to be positioned to participate when the window opens, we suggest the following five steps.
None of these steps commits you to invest.
1. Create your Daba account. Create a Daba account at dabafinance.com/register — takes a few minutes.
2. Pick individual or business. Choose whether to onboard as an individual or as a business / entity (trust, personal investment company, family investment vehicle). Both are supported. Business onboarding is somewhat more document-intensive but the access, execution and repatriation mechanics are identical.
3. Complete KYC (and KYB for businesses). Provide the documents requested by Daba’s onboarding flow. This is a one-time step that unlocks access to every product on the Daba platform, not just the Dangote IPO.
4. Check the rules in your own jurisdiction. Participation in a foreign securities offering may be subject to the rules of your own country of residence — including registration, tax and reporting obligations. You are responsible for understanding and complying with those rules. If in doubt, consult a qualified adviser in your jurisdiction. Daba does not provide tax, legal or investment advice.
5. Express your interest via the Daba interest form. Once your account is KYC-approved, complete the Dangote IPO interest form on the Daba platform. Expressing interest is not an application to subscribe; it lets Daba notify you the moment the official subscription window opens, with the prospectus-approved terms, minimum lot, funding instructions and application deadline. When notified, you will be able to fund your Daba account and submit a subscription application through the Daba platform, subject to Daba’s onboarding checks and to allocation by the issuer’s appointed bookrunners.
Daba does not guarantee allocation. Allocation is determined by the issuer and its appointed bookrunners under the terms of the SEC-Nigeria-approved prospectus. Nothing on this page constitutes an offer to sell, a solicitation to buy or a recommendation to invest in any security.
