Has the Dangote IPO Application Been Filed?

Short Answer

Yes. In late July/early August 2026, Dangote Petroleum Refinery formally filed an initial public offering application with Nigeria’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This was confirmed publicly by SEC Director-General Emomotimi Agama.

What the Filing Actually Means

A filing means the company has formally asked the regulator to review its plan to sell shares to the public — it triggers the SEC’s regulatory review process. It does not mean the offer has been approved, priced, or opened for subscription. According to Agama, the company’s advisers are actively working with SEC teams to process the application, and the regulator doesn’t currently anticipate delays that would derail the plan.

What Happens Next

The SEC still needs to review the application, likely including a formal prospectus, before approving the offer. Only after that approval will an official price, offer size, and listing date become public. The company has targeted a September 2026 listing, but no date has been formally approved as of this writing.
