How Can I Buy Dangote Refinery IPO Shares?
1 min Read August 22, 2026 at 9:54 AM UTC

Short Answer
You can’t yet — as of this writing, Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s IPO has been filed with Nigeria’s SEC but hasn’t been approved, priced, or opened for public subscription. There’s no legitimate channel currently open to buy shares in the refinery.
How You’ll Be Able to Buy Shares Once the Offer Opens
When an official subscription window does open, buying shares will generally require an NGX-licensed stockbroker (Nigeria-resident or diaspora/foreign-investor-friendly, depending on where you live), a CSCS account where your shares will be held electronically once allotted, and standard KYC documentation. You’d apply and pay for your desired number of shares — subject to a minimum lot size confirmed in the prospectus — within the official subscription period, and shares would be credited to your CSCS account upon allotment.
Be cautious of anyone asking for money now to “reserve” or “pre-subscribe” to Dangote shares — Nigeria’s SEC publicly warned against exactly this kind of unauthorized promotional activity in June 2026, before the real application was even filed.
What to Do Right Now
Open a brokerage account with an NGX-licensed stockbroker, get your CSCS account set up, and complete your KYC documentation in advance, so you’re ready to act quickly once Dangote publishes its official prospectus and subscription details — which the company has targeted for around September 2026, though no date has been formally approved.
