How to Invest in the Dangote IPO From the UK

Can UK-based investors access the Dangote IPO? What to prepare now, plus a note on the separate Dangote Cement London listing.
UK-based investors, including Nigeria’s large diaspora community in Britain, have two separate Dangote-linked listings to keep straight. Dangote Petroleum Refinery is targeting a Nigerian Exchange (NGX) IPO, currently filed with Nigeria’s SEC but not yet priced or open for subscription as of this writing. Separately, Dangote Cement, an already-listed, different company, has publicly targeted a secondary listing on the London Stock Exchange, with founder Aliko Dangote telling the Financial Times in May 2026 that the plan was aimed at around September 2026, with JPMorgan, Citigroup, and Standard Bank named as advisers on that transaction. These are two different companies and two different deals; don’t assume access to one means access to the other.
For the refinery IPO specifically, UK-based investors would access it the same way any foreign investor would: through an NGX-licensed stockbroker that accepts non-resident clients, or an international brokerage platform offering NGX access. Expect standard KYC: valid ID (passport), proof of UK address, and possibly additional foreign-investor compliance paperwork, which varies by broker.
If Dangote Cement does proceed with its planned London listing, UK-based investors may find it more straightforward to access via a standard UK brokerage account and the LSE, similar to buying any other London-listed stock, though the exact structure (a direct share sale, admission process, and final float size) depends on final terms not yet confirmed as of this writing.
Funding either investment from the UK would generally involve either a UK brokerage account (for a London-listed Dangote Cement) or an international transfer to a Nigeria-based broker (for the NGX refinery IPO). Currency exposure differs too: a London listing would likely trade in pounds sterling, while the NGX refinery offer would be naira-denominated, adding naira/GBP exchange rate risk to any returns.
The practical step right now is deciding which opportunity you’re actually tracking, the refinery IPO or the separate Dangote Cement London listing, since they involve different brokers, different timelines, and different regulatory processes entirely.
