When Is the Dangote Refinery IPO Date?
1 min Read August 22, 2026 at 10:00 AM UTC

Short Answer
No official, SEC-approved listing date has been set as of this writing. Founder Aliko Dangote has publicly targeted a September 2026 listing, and Nigeria’s SEC has said it doesn’t currently anticipate delays, but the regulator has been explicit that no date has been formally approved.
Why There’s a Gap Between “Target” and “Confirmed”
Dangote Petroleum Refinery formally filed its IPO application with Nigeria’s SEC in late July/early August 2026. That filing opens a regulatory review process — the SEC needs to review disclosures, likely including a prospectus, before approving an offer date. A company’s publicly stated target and a regulator’s final approved date are two different things, and it’s completely normal for the gap between them to exist at this stage of any large IPO, in Nigeria or elsewhere.
How to Track the Real Date
The most reliable way to know the actual listing date is to watch for two specific events: SEC approval of an official prospectus, and the company’s own announcement of a confirmed subscription and listing timetable. Until then, treat “September 2026” as the company’s stated goal, not a locked-in date — Daba will update this as soon as an official date is confirmed.
